The peace that had once claimed the land for decades has just been shattered...
All was well once in a faraway land called Lusaria. The land vast, the food plentiful. But most of all, there was peace and equality among all of the equines inhabiting the continent, and this had lasted for many years.
That is, until a stallion by the name of Shale came along.
Though at first he was simply an average equine with a goal in life, that goal eventually turned from high rank to total dominion. And to get there, he had to overthrow his leaders and take their place for himself.
He just about got his wish. After gathering a small army of followers, Shale was just about to deal the final blow. But by the slimmest of margins, his plans backfired, and the result was banishment... as well as something more.
The peacekeepers of Lusaria, called the Rhalteo, passed their own judgment upon Shale and his followers. Their punishment: a curse, forbidding the offenders from walking in the light of day without dire consequences.
Banished and now cursed as well, Shale and his rebels found refuge among the trees of a forest they have come to call The Darkwoods. As for their own title, they now call themselves simply The Shadows. And 'shadows' they are, lurking within the darkest places Lusaria has to offer.
But that doesn't mean they haven't stopped their mission; no, it's only just begun.
As for the Lusarians, those who remain in the Rhalteo's good graces, life has returned back to normal... or as close to normal as you can get after nearly having your way of life turned upside down.
However, there's no doubt that they are certainly on the alert for their newly forged enemies, and will do everything they can to defend themselves as well as their land.
